Yuzu is a Japanese citrus fruit, likened to a wild mandarin orange crossed with a lemon. This entirely natural variety consists of 100% yuzu juice, resulting in strong citrus notes, laced with heady floral, lime blossom aromas.
Green yuzu juice is so strongly perfumed, that it was once used as an ingredient in scented bath oils! It’s more commonly found in the kitchen now – used in ponzu sauces or yuzu chilli pastes. Green yuzu juice is also used in some of the world’s best cocktail bars, recently featuring in the James Bond Skyfall Martini.
There is no Western equivalent to yuzu juice – so keep a bottle in your fridge for homemade condiments, vinaigrettes, fish marinades, floral-scented granitas and a cheeky cocktail or two.
