Tricana Portuguese sardines in spicy tomato sauce are a some of Portugal's finest tinned fish. Tricana hand select the plumpest Portuguese sardines and lightly cook them. They are then smothered in a tomato sauce with chilli and olive oil, and hand placed in each can. Enjoy the sardines in spicy tomato sauce with fresh, crusty bread, or use to top pasta for an instant supper.
Tricana offer a wide range of high quality Portuguese fish and seafood and pack all their tins by hand. This care is one of the reasons why they were chosen by Portugal’s destination fish shop, Conserveira de Lisboa. Conserveira de Lisboa was founded in downtown Lisbon in 1930 as Mercearia do Minho, a store that specialised in the sale of canned fish. Little has changed in the last 86 years – including the interior! To this day Conserveira de Lisboa looks much the same as it did in the 1930s – the main counter, shelves and the back office are all original – with the tins on display behind the counter and authentic Portuguese adverts from the 1930s are displayed on the walls. The tins are even still wrapped by hand, and the designs are all in keeping with the ‘retro’ feel.
Tricana have been registered to Conserveira de Lisboa for over 70 years, and are one of only three brands that meet their high standards for a place on their shelves.
