Sengiri dried daikon threads are an easy way to introduce daikon – also known as mooli, or Japanese radish – into your cooking, without worrying about hunting for the fresh vegetable when you want to make a dish.
Japanese families will keep dried daikon in their store cupboards to make a side dish called kiriboshi-daikon – rehydrated daikon threads fried with vegetable oil and thinly sliced carrots, then simmered in dashi, sake, mirin, soy sauce and a little sugar.
You can also use rehydrated daikon threads just as you would fresh daikon – stir fry with deep fried tofu, shiitake mushrooms, dashi, sugar and soy sauce for another popular Japanese side dish.
Ingredients: Japanese radish.
