Dulse is already popular in the culinary world, though it’s commonly found in dried powder form as a seasoning. But a few years ago a strain of dulse was discovered that, when fried, satisfied the bacon cravings of even the most ardent carnivore.

For best results, crisp the seaweed bacon in a frying pan over a medium heat with some oil. When the purply-red seaweed has turned mostly green, it’s ready to eat – this should only take 5-10 seconds on each side. Enjoy on avocado toast, toss through salads, or even crumble over pasta.

Also add the seaweed bacon as an ingredient in creamy or cheesy sauces. It won’t crisp up, but will still add a smoky bacon-like depth.
