The Netherton Foundry cream tagine brings the exotic touch of North Africa into your kitchen. Use the accompanying recipes to cook up a Moroccan feast, or experiment with your own combinations of meat, vegetables and spices. Also try using the cast iron bowl on its own to make deep-fill pies.
The cast iron bowl has a capacity of 4 litres, and the ceramic tagine lid is finished with a knob carved from British oak.
Made from Netherton Foundry’s cast iron, the bowl is non-stick, durable, and develops a patina over time. Suitable for all cooking surfaces including induction hobs, the bowl heats fast and cools quickly. It also comes pre-seasoned, so you can get cooking right away. You can even use it without the tagine lid in the oven or under the grill. Before the first use, wash the bowl with hot water. Do not use soap or detergent. Dry immediately with a towel, as leaving to air dry increases the chance of rusting. If you need to scrub, use a plastic bristled brush in hot soapy water, but avoid anything harsher. Avoid detergents completely.
The Netherton Foundry is a family company based in Shropshire – home of the 18th and 19th century ironmasters. Their pans are made from 99.1% pure iron and they use locally sourced materials wherever possible – the oak that makes the pan handles is British, and the flax seasoning oil comes from Sussex. Experienced local craftsmen use traditional manufacturing methods to bring you high quality cookware that gets better over time.
Caution: if using a ceramic or induction hob, increase the heat slowly for the first few uses to prevent buckling. Do not drop hot iron into cold water – this can cause the metal to warp or shatter. Not dishwasher safe. The wooden knob is not oven safe.
