La Favorita sliced porcini mushrooms, or ceps, are ready to eat straight from the jar. Drain and serve the large sliced mushrooms cold alongside a selection of appetisers, or add to casseroles.
Every jar is packed with big, chunky slices of porcini mushroom. Known as ‘the king of mushrooms’, these porcini are of the highest quality. The caps are a rich brown, and every piece is a creamy colour with no black markings. This shows that the mushrooms are of optimum ripeness.
Porcini mushrooms have a hearty, nutty flavour. You can slice the porcini further and stir through tagliatelle with a little butter, or make a decadent creamy mushroom sauce for chicken. Once the mushrooms are finished, you can even use the leftover oil to add a delicate porcini flavour to pizzas or salads.
La Favorita was born just after the second world war. The founder began by trading local Ligurian specialities – such as chestnuts and mushrooms – for anchovies from local fishermen. The enterprise grew and La Favorita began selling sauces and preserves made from local produce.
