Kosho Chawanmushi Bowl

Kosho Chawanmushi Bowl

Description

Chawanmushi is a classic Japanese dish and the name means ‘steamed in a tea bowl’. These charming lidded bowls are the traditional way to serve this dish. It is a savoury egg custard that is typically topped with shiitake mushrooms, boiled shrimp and lily root.

Serve chawanmushi as a starter or bring out with the main meal as a side dish. The chawanmushi bowls are also perfect for serving miso soup or individual salads.

Kosho is the Japanese word for ‘pepper’ and this chawanmushi bowl has a white and brown counterpart called shio, or ‘salt’. Mix and match these stylish bowls with the crockery in our Karasuba-Iro range and the Misuto noodle bowl.

Please note that each piece is individually made, hence minor variations in colour and texture may occur from that shown in the photo.
