Use these dried organic split fava beans to make dhal, houmous or falafel. Cook the beans (instructions below) and serve in earthy bean salads, or even mash them with garlic and olive oil and serve with a rich tomato stew. The beans have been split, and the slightly tough outer shells have been removed, which means they will cook down to a lovely smooth consistency.
How to cook organic split fava beans
To cook simply cover the beans with water or stock, boil for 10 minutes then simmer, braise or roast for 20-30 minutes more. Pre-soaking speeds up cooking but isn't essential. The beans will get softer and softer as they cook.
