Cool Chile Co Achiote Paste, 190g

Description

Achiote Paste by the Cool Chile Co will help you to create authentic Mexican dishes. Its mild earthy flavour and bright red colour will bring your plate to life. Made with achiote seeds, garlic and spices – this paste is used to make a number of traditional Mexican dishes including cochinita pibil which originates from the Yucatán.

Use to marinate your meats, fish and poultry. Pile into soft tortillas with whichever sides take your fancy. Pink pickled onions are particularly good. You could also put your marinated meat into enchiladas, as a stuffing for chillies or in empanadas.

 Instructions:

  • Mix 20g of achiote paste with 45g fresh citrus and 1 garlic glove crushed with salt.
  • Marinate 450g meat for 4-8 hours
  • Cook by roasting, grilling or barbecuing.

Dodie Miller, founder of Cool Chile Co, believes that there are certain warm, earthy flavours and smells that instantly transport you to Mexico. Whether it's salsas and sauces made with toasted dried chillies, tortillas fresh from the comal, Mexican oregano rubbed over pozole, or black beans bubbling in a pot with epazote, these are the tastes and spice sensations that they want to bring into your home.

Once opened, refrigerate and use within 4 weeks.

Ingredients: ground achiote seeds (30.5%), cider vinegar, water, garlic (9%), sea salt, masa harina (ground nixtamalized corn), spices. Made in a factory that handles nuts and sesame seeds.

Allergy advice: Allergens are listed in bold.
