Pack a bento box and take a cup of Chiyomusubi junmai ginjo sake on picnics for convenient refreshment – the Japanese way! Sip on a long train journey, take on a camping trip – this cup sake is ready to go whenever you are. The reusable glass sake cup is decorated with the character of medama-oyaji (‘eyeball-father’) from a popular 1960s manga called ‘GeGeGe no Kitaro’ (Kitaro of the Graveyard).
Cup sake has its origins in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, when it was invented so spectators at the games could enjoy sake in the crowded stands. The concept of cup sake took off, and it can now be found all over Japan in convenience stores and vending machines.
The name of this sake, Oyaji Gokuraku literally means ‘old-man’s paradise’, and has refreshing notes of strawberry & grapefruit.
