Asbach liqueur bottles are the ideal gift for lovers of liqueur chocolates. Filled with fine German Asbach brandy surrounded by a delicate sugar crust and enrobed in dark chocolate, they’re an indulgent after-dinner treat.
Asbach brandy was first produced by Hugo Asbach in 1892. He studied how to make Cognac and wanted to make his own version in Germany. Asbach’s Weinbrand, or ‘wine brandy’ was born. These chocolates contain Asbach Uralt, a blend of 25 different wine distillations that’s aged for up to 3 years in oak casks. Asbach Uralt is fruity with distinct grape and oak aromas and a clean, crisp flavour.
Asbach liqueur chocolates date back to the 1920s. In Germany at this time, it was considered highly improper for women to be seen drinking anything alcoholic in public. So, Hugo Asbach created his chocolate liqueurs as a way for women to enjoy a little alcohol when out and about. Hugo’s chocolates became a huge hit, and not just with women! They’re now a popular confectionery all over the world.
