Agnoni artichokes with stem are a ready-to-eat gourmet antipasto or starter. Here at Sous Chef we love artichokes – and we’ve never tasted any that are as good as these straight from the jar!

The artichokes are grown on the Agnoni family farm in Cori, Italy. They’re harvested and trimmed by hand. Then they’re preserved in oil, herbs and spices while still fresh. According to local tradition the artichokes are seasoned with pennyroyal, also known as Roman mint.

To serve the artichokes as antipasti, simply slice in half lengthways and present on a platter. Or serve a whole artichoke with goat’s cheese and some dots of balsamic glaze for a quick and eye-catching Italian starter. The artichokes are so tender that no extra trimming is needed.

Agnoni began with husband & wife Neno and Nena Agnoni in the 1960s. They bought a farm just outside of their home town of Cori, in the Lazio region of western Italy. After the second world war, they had a desire to create something with their own hands that would last for future generations. On the Agnoni farm they still do things by hand wherever possible. That includes harvesting, preparing vegetables for preservation, and making some of the preserves themselves. Today, Nena Agnoni still oversees her children and grandchildren, as they run the family farm and make traditional Italian preserves for the world to enjoy.

Each jar contains approximately seven artichokes with stems.

Ingredients: artichokes (60%), sunflower seed oil (29%), extra virgin olive oil (10%), pennyroyal, garlic, red hot chilli pepper, wine vinegar, salt, acidity regulator (citric acid).
