Sen-cha Gold is the most popular type of tea in Japan – known for its subtle sweetness, soft bitter notes and fresh green aromas. To make Sen-Cha gold, the younger, upper leaves are picked in springtime during first harvest. They are then steamed for about 30 seconds, unlike Chinese tea which is pan-fried. The leaves are then rolled into needle-like shaped and dried to retain the fresh, herbal aromas.

To brew sencha gold tea, steep 1 tablespoon in 350ml of water at 75-85C. Sen-cha gold tea is delicious by itself, but it also works very as part of an infusion. Try mixing a little hibiscus with sen-cha gold or try a jasmine and sen-cha blend.
