The selection of grains are exciting, nutritious and versatile – stir roasted vegetables or fresh herbs through the cooked grains for a summer salad, or use them as a bed to serve meat on.

The amaranth seeds, red quinoa and plain quinoa are great for light, tabbouleh-style salads, while the Camargue red rice and black rice make dramatic pilafs – delicious served hot or cold. The spelt and bulgur wheat both need a little more cooking than the other grains, so add a handful to a soup or stew for extra nutritional value and wonderful juicy textures. With different flavours, different colours and different sized grains, these seven packs will perk up your store cupboard and transform plainer dishes into something a little bit special.
