What is Himalayan salt good for?

Himalayan salt can be used for cooking all types of dishes due to its pure and odourless flavour. It is a great finishing salt due to its beautiful colour. But it also works wonderfully to season stews, grilled meat and fish or any other dishes

Pop the dainty Himalayan salt crystals in a salt mill to season your food at the table.

But to really wow your dinner guests, you need a Himalayan salt block. Also called Himalayan salt plates, these large slabs of salt can be heated in the oven and used to cook thin slices of meat, fish and vegetables at the table. You can even freeze a salt block, then use it to present ice cream, chocolate or toffees. Both ways of using the salt plate will impart subtly salty flavours into your food.

It also has many other uses. For example, people who suffer from asthma or allergies often use it as an inhalant, because it helps clear the nasal passage and open up the airways. If you're feeling congested from a head cold, try using this remedy and see if it helps!

What is the difference between Himalayan salt and regular salt?

Himalayan salt is mined from the Khewra Salt Mine in Pakistan. Most regular table salts only contain one or two minerals, but Himalayan salt contains up to 84 different minerals, such as including magnesium, potassium, and calcium, making it a healthier option

Himalayan salt is also odourless, so it is a great option for anyone with sensitivities or allergies. It also gives it a pure salt flavour,

What about Himalayan rock salt vs sea salt?

Well, both kinds of salt have mineral flavours. But sea salt also has subtly briny, sea-like flavours. This is why sea salt is such a good match for fish and sea food. But sea salt is also very fine and flaky, so it's better for adding flavour to a dish rather than texture. Rock salt is very coarse and forms large crystals. So, it's great for giving a salt crust to joints of meat or even whole fish.

All our Himalayan salt is lovely to cook with, or – if you prefer – of course you can add it to bath water too for a mineral salt bath!

Is Himalayan salt healthier than regular salt?

Himalayan salt is often considered the healthiest salt due to its high mineral content. In addition, it is free of iodine and other additives that are found in most table salts.

Some of these benefits include reducing high blood pressure and improved circulation. If you are looking for an alternative to regular table salt that tastes the same but offers different health benefits, then Himalayan salt should be your go-to salt!

Where does Himalayan salt come from?

Himalayan salt comes from the foothills of the Himalayas - specifically from the Punjab region of Pakistan. The salt crystals started to form hundreds of millions of years ago when this region was still below sea level. When the Indian tectonic plate collided with the Eurasian plate, the salt deposits were pushed up as the Himalayan mountain range formed.

Why is Himalayan salt pink?

The salt's pink hue is from the trace levels of minerals in the salt. Iron contributes the most to the colour, but there also traces of calcium and magnesium.

Can Himalayan salt go bad?

Himalayan salt does not go bad. Just like any other salt, it lasts very long time as long as its kept dry.
